Case Study

In 2021, the Victorian Public Sector (VPS) Women of Colour Network (WoCN) engaged MindTribes to conduct a comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) survey. The goal was to collect and analyse demographic and qualitative data to understand the experiences of Women of Colour (WoC) within the VPS and inform strategies for improving equity, inclusion, and cultural safety.

MindTribes designed and deployed a detailed survey capturing both quantitative and qualitative data on WoC’s experiences in the VPS. Distributed to over 700 members and allies of the WoCN, the survey received 1,035 responses over four weeks. The data was thoroughly analysed to identify key issues and trends, and findings were compiled into a comprehensive report with actionable recommendations.

The survey provided a detailed understanding of the challenges faced by WoC in the VPS, including issues related to cultural safety, equity, and inclusion. The insights informed the development of targeted strategies to address systemic barriers and promote an inclusive workplace culture. The report raised awareness of WoC’s experiences, highlighting the need for continued diversity and inclusion efforts, and empowered WoC by giving them a platform to share their experiences and inform supportive initiatives.

MindTribes’ approach to quantitative and demographic data collection enabled the WoCN to gain valuable insights into WoC’s experiences within the VPS. This data provided a foundation for developing effective DEI strategies and fostering an inclusive workplace.
